Ernesto Lecuona (August 7, 1896 - November 29, 1963) was a Cuban composer & performing artist, beyond question a greatest and virtually all legendary Cuban musician of his period.
Lecuona was natural around Guanabacoa, near Havana, Cuba on August 6, 1896. He began early researching piano under his sister Ernestina, then, at a Peyrellade Conservatoire under Antonio Saavedra and the renowned Joaquin Nin. Lecuona graduated from either a National Conservatory of Havana with a Gold Medallion for interpretation once he was 16. & he performed outside of Cuba at a Aeolian Hall (New York) in 1916.
He number one travelled to Spaaround around 1924 withwithin the concert tour by having fiddler Marithe de la Torre; his succesful soft recitals in 1928 at Paris coincided by using a rise in interest in Cuban music.
He was the profilic composer of songs & music for stage & film. His works consisted of zarzuela, Afro-Cuban & Cuban rhythms, suites and numbers of songs which are then however super far-famed. It include "Siboney" (Canto Siboney), "Malagueña" & "The Breeze and I" (Andalucía). Within 1942, his great hit, "Always in My Heart" (Siempre nut mi Corazon) was nomined for an Oscar for Best Song; nonetheless, it wasted to "White Christmas." Lecuona was an expert of a symphonious form & conducted the Ernesto Lecuona Symphonic Orchestra. A Orchestra performed in the Cuban Liberatiin Day Concert at Carnegie Hall on October 10, 1943. A concert involved the world premiere of Lecuona's "Black Rhapsody." Lecuona as well played popular music using his Lecuona's Cuban Boys band.
Within 1960, thoroughly unhappy with Castro's new regime, Lecuona moved to Tampa. He died Trine years late at Santa Cruz de Tenerife and he is buried in Hawthorne, New York.
